Dear
Parents and Players,
The spring has gone by very fast, and our first practice will soon
be
approaching. There are some things I wanted to make sure that you
are aware of before practice starts on the 16th of August. I will
address each point below:
Paperwork: All required forms need to be turned
in before your son can practice. This includes all of the FCPS forms,
the physical exam form, and the insurance verification form. All
forms can be obtained in the office at Oakdale Middle School (Temporary
LHS office site). The forms can also be found on the FCPS website
www.fcps.org. They are located
under the athletics section. Please do not allow your son to miss
practice because his paperwork is not in order. Paperwork may be
turned in during our Conditioning Camp or on the first day of practice
(16 August).
Weight Lifting: Since we are moving to Oakdale,
we have no school weight lifting facility available. Coach Conner
has the Varsity and JV lifting at the Sports Plex; however, the
designated times for our team does not allow for Coach Peach and
myself to attend. We encourage you to lift at your local gym or
health club. Coach Peach has forwarded information on Speed and
Agility Training at Frederick High on Tuesday & Thursday mornings.
If you can make it to these sessions, great! If not, please do not
feel obligated to adjust your summer schedule.
Pre-Season Fundamental Sessions: We will be conducting
4 Pre-season Fundamental Sessions at New Market Middle School from
6-8pm on the following dates: 8, 10, 15, and 17 July,and at Libertytown
Park on July 22,24,29 and 31st.
These sessions are designed to get the players familiar with our
system and football fundamentals. These sessions are not mandatory;
however, we highly encourage attending each of these sessions.
Hydration: It is very important that you son begins
to hydrate himself.
Practices in August are very hot, and they will loose a great deal
of fluid. They should begin drinking water, Gatorade, and any sports
drink that can help with fluid replacement. You cannot play catch
up with fluid replacement. You must start early with hydration.
Please make sure your son's eat and drink healthy. A good balanced
diet is always a good thing. No soda!!! We will weigh all the players
before and after practice to ensure they are replacing their fluids
adequately. If you have any questions, please let myself or Coach
Conner know.
Conditioning Camp: Our annual Conditioning Camp
will be held on
11-14 August at New Market Middle School. Camp information can be
obtained from the weight room or by contacting Coach Conner or myself.
A one-week camp does not get a player in shape for the season.
Practice Schedule: We will begin practice our 1st
practice on the 16th of August. Since we are moving to our new campus
at Oakdale, our practice times have not yet been determined. Once
I receive this information, I will forward it to you.
Game and Scrimmage Schedule: I have attached our
game and scrimmage schedule. Please keep in mind that this schedule
is always subject to change. If there are any changes, I will let
you know immediately.
Football Website: We also have a Lancer Football
Website. It contains information on our schedules and upcoming events.

Team Assistants: We are always in need of support
and assistance. We are looking for volunteers to assist with the
following:
Team Mom's (We like having 2-3 mom1s)
Chain Crew
Press Box Operations
Game Filming (Very important)
Football Database: We gather emails and point of
contact information to pass on football related events and information.
I have been gathering this information for the incoming freshman
class. If you know of anyone that is not included on this email
list, please have them forward their information to my email address.
At a minimum I require:

Emergency Phone
Parents Names

they have a snack.
***If the player wishes to ride home with their parents, the must
have an approved note from an administrator. No exceptions!!!
****If the player misses any school on game day, they must have
an approved note from an administrator in order to participate in
the game.
